Hey Meep! I wanted to post a suggestion to hopefully help Make Meepcraft Great Again! I was reading some other suggestions and saw that many players were saying that they believe Meepcraft will never recover. I am happy to say that you may be wrong! Other servers like ours have those player levels and there is almost no reason why we can't too.
By the title of this suggestion, I hope that:
    1) Staff don't autodeny this and
    2) Meepcraft doesn't get more divided. (One of the last things we would want currently is for more people to stop playing)

--My suggestion is simple: Have the /warp bank shop work like the Headshop or Halo GUI, with updated prices (for gold) and not like a chestshop. The price to buy would be the same as to sell, like it is now.

--Secondly, I believe that to help Make Meepcraft Great Again, we need to live up to our name. Meepcraft is a Towny AND Economy server, and not all economic transactions and doings are by individuals. Without the stock market, and public companies willing to listen to their shareholders, the economy would have been withered long ago.
We need to reinstate the stocks plugin, but with a simple solution from its prior abuse. Open when the market does, 7:30 A.M. (GMT-4 11:30 A.M.)

How about making a stock system based on current meep companies

Like a stock exchange where people could enlist with their own companies

To do this, we'd need a company system with town-like structure. Perhaps stocks could be based off of towns that want stocks?

Yeah I was thinking thats how it would start off with towns enlisting and over time companies would start to form and maybe take part in the exchange

I meant how it used to be, with irl stocks being traded for meebles = dollar amounts

I know what you meant, but I like my idea more. It doesn't have many exploits and is more community based than just the real life stocks

Thats not the point. The point is that community based system is much more immersive than just buying intel or apple stocks.

It gets you more involved in the game and makes the game seem more real. Involving the community more gives people a reason to stay

Let's be honest, most new players aren't going to stay for the community. They will stay for the gameplay and/or opportunities.
    --- Double Post Merged, Aug 4, 2018, Original Post Date: Aug 4, 2018 ---
The new players aren't part of the community and would be excluded, so they would quit.

1: there are many opportunities from community stocks. They bring everyone together, it doesn't spawn money into the eco, and is a fun new gamemode in itself.

2: What makes you think that new players would be shunned by a stock system? Stocks aren't necessities in the real world either so nobody is required to trade them. Its just a fun new way for businesses to raise money and offers a new way to get rich. Nothing about that would shun people away

Re: 1) The new players aren't familiar with the community stocks and would be confused and if they don't see it as intriguing, will stop and might quit from boredom.
Re: 2) I was talking about only caring about the existing community.

1: Nobody is forced to trade stocks. That said, why would changing the companies included in the stocks drive someone away? If they think that trading stocks for Twomoos mooving service or /pwarp large is boring. Then why would they find trading apple or intel stocks exciting? its the same thing except the companies being traded are different

2: not sure what you mean. but as I said earlier community stocks wouldn't force anyone away

Re: Re: 1) Ok look, which are you more familiar with, PseudoCorp (Meep) or Apple Inc.
Re: Re: 2) I didn't even say that the stocks would force them away, or anything like that.

1: that would be picked up quickly. Players would become familiar with the companies way before they become familiar with the stock exchange. For instance. A new player that's just joined legend will probably just build their house and become familiar with the businesses being advertised.

    2: ok

Re: Re: Re: 1) No, it wouldn't.. I heard of PseudoCorp in 2017.. I joined 1/4-way in 2015. 2 years isn't quick, especially for new players.

1: businesses now have more of an incentive to advertise as they are now public. For instance twomoo would advertise his mooville moovers more often so as to raise funds on the stock market. furthermore we could have like a tutorial or quest where players learn how the meepstocks works and how they can get involved.

2: I still dont understand the second point.

Re: Re: Re: Re: 1) This is a Minecraft server, players donate if they like the server. If Meepcraft wants more revenue, we have to lean to all players, and that includes living up to the economy name of Meepcraft. Also, how would you measure town stocks? How would the shares be divided? By what percentage or whole of the town bank? It's too complicated and too impractical. The plugin would likely take a while and would measure few towns. A REAL LIFE stocks plugin would be far simpler for our techs and would be more PRACTICAL!

Re: Re: Re: Re: 2) The second point is that the community isn't everything on meep. Meepcraft could become a groupme or a social media group if it were the community solely. Meepcraft is also about the experiences on meepCRAFT, not Meepcommunity. Getting a new rank that lets you explore the server more and getting your first 1 million meebles are something that comes from the server, too.

Real life stock trading seems fake and just doesn't really fit in with the server. For instance I buy 20 shares of intel. Cool, now what? that means absolutely nothing on meep. I don't actually own intel and buying on meep doesn't make the price change. In contrast if I buy 20 shares of Twomoos mooville moovers then I own 20 shares of his company. I own part of his company and I impact the market price of the share. Its a much more authentic experience than simply buying meaningless stocks and selling them when someone in the real world buys a bunch of them

For Towns its easier but for companies its trickier. I'll explain towns first. The worth of the town would come from three main things.
    1: resident count
    2:town bank
3:Amount of residents added each week
A successful town like mooville and legend would be worth far more than a town like say, Jalex or Nigeria (yes you dont know those towns thats the point)

for companies however that would have to come from the sales made and profits. A profitable company like say /pwarp large would be worth more than a random shop on market street. Before the companies and towns are added to the exchange they would be reviewed by a staff member and validated so that tiny companies cant go out with stock prices of 50k a nor can large ones go out with 50 meebs per stock.

Sometimes more effort makes better things. For instance, take towny war. Many plugins already exist for towny war yet meep is making its own custom towny war plugin. The same could be done with stocks to ensure a more accurate experience for the populace of meepcraft. Granted, it may take a while. But I think it would be best to have a better, custom plugin than a tired old one that feels empty

Meepcraft advertises as a community server. This shouldn't be a hub server where groups of friends come on for a couple hours to screw around then leave and never return. The whole point of towny is to build lasting communities to connect with and relate. A community stock exchange would do wonders to help grow the server as a community

Yes, thats true. And Good experiences come from good communities. As a new player i may spend a week here building a house but now what. What should that new player do? Real life stock exchange does nothing to keep players as its an empty meaningless plugin that has a better alternative in real life. Why would a new player trade stocks of apple and intel in meep instead of real life? Those that care about stocks would just trade real intel and apple stocks instead of meep intel and apple ones.

because real life stocks are dealing with real money, and the community of 7-18 year olds don't have 1.2k usd to spend on a single google share, plus the knowledge and research it takes to profit a single thing off the irl stock market. i fully support the idea of bringing an irl stock marker to meepcraft. its a simple idea and a simulation for those who want to get involved in the economy and profit off risks and trends.

good point. I still think however that a community based system would be more immersive than this plugin. You're also forgetting that it isn't an accurate stock system with the price being unaffected by the player purchasing a set amount of shares. Under the community stocks the players would get a real time simulation (as you put it) of stocks. Just not real ones.
